Long ago as a young aspiring musician, I remember opening my Fender amplifier to replace a tube and discovering an array of beautiful jewels inside. Soldered in some fashion to create sound were colorful electronic components that subliminally must have impressed upon me.

As we often wonder how a jumbo jet gets off the ground, I wondered how these little gems created the technological tasks that they were ascribed. Yet, my artistic mind was more impressed with the sheer beauty of these baubles than their practical function.

As someone who grew up surrounded by fine art, I gained a deep appreciation for it. Our family home resembled an art gallery with paintings taking up all the wall space. Naturally, I explored and mimicked the various styles to satisfy my creative urge but they never resonated for various reasons. Perhaps because in my view every angle of traditional art had already been explored, but mostly because there were plenty of artists that could do it much better than me.

My desire was to create and design an instantly recognizable avant-garde art form to call my own.  It was an experiment with an unorthodox medium, in the hope that it would still appeal to mainstream values, yet forge a radical departure from the status quo of traditional art form. Over time, an idea evolved from my early impressions and my distinctive style was conceived. With my soldering iron, I began to experiment by fusing these electronic components into eye pleasing art. I call it JanovTronics.

JanovTronics is the result of my passion and experimentative nature. It embodies a critically curious mind, taking an unexplored path to an unknown destination. At times this path has brought about much frustration, countless errors through experimentation and even outright discontent. I struggled with the technical learning curve and the medium’s limitations for expression. Yet the end result invariably fills me with joy and a sense of accomplishment, which further fuels my creative emotions. In the end, this is what every artist strives for.

Each piece here is a door to my heart and soul.  I earnestly hope it gives you some viewing pleasure and elicits your inner emotions.
