Amy Winehouse was a talented genius with an unparalleled voice. I listened to her music compulsively. There was not a note that didn’t affect me in some way.
Yet, the day I learned of her death, I was mostly unmoved. Her destruction and final chapter was telegraphed by her daily actions on stage, as well as in her personal life.
On July 23rd, 2011, Amy joined the “Forever 27 Club” …artists that died at the age of 27.
As Forbes contributor Tim Worstall stated, “Huge fame, rivers of money and freedom that come with both” allows them to “ afford to ingest just about anything at all” It is just a matter of time for the “drugs and drink hedonism of the rock and roll lifestyle to kill you”.
Amy had so much to offer to the world, but fame and fortune took its toll. Prescription drugs, illicit drugs and alcohol came calling. The lure is tough to resist and once taken the grip of this “TRAP” proved to be firm and unbreakable.
