My good friend and neighbour Gerard Hayes had a fantastic workshop in his garage. He always made me welcome when I needed to use it. One day, I was trying to rush and complete a project as Gerard was leaving for a two week trip back to Newfoundland

Sensing my urgency, Gerard handed me a key and said, “this is the key to my home, but I’m only giving you the key to my garage”.

Such is the kindness of Newfoundlanders I’m told. Certainly such was the kindness and generosity of my good friend Gerard.
